If you haven’t partaken in some of the Fuckery that is Stephon Marbury’s livestream (http://www.justin.tv/starburytv) do it NOW before the L.A. County Mental Health officials come get him.

Starbury has been broadcasting live pretty much for the last 3 or 4 days. Showing the world what I feel most of the NBA community has known for years, DUDE IS CERTIFIABLE! Makes me wonder how much help the League or Player’s Association has tried to get for him. Is it even really their responsibility to do so? One thing is for sure, I doubt he makes it to any team’s roster this year. Artest walking around in his under ware is one thing for a team to cover up (oh you haven’t heard that story coming out of Houston yet… there will be more) but this thing with Steph is on a whole other level.

You want to believe that he’s just a little eccentric. That maybe he really IS just that moved by his faith to cry on the net, That eating Vaseline is one of those backwoods old wives tales someone is his family told him, he really WAS paying tribute to Mike with that performance or that telling ladies to throw their #1′s in the air while Drake plays over and over and over is fun for a random Monday afternoon.

How do you stop a train wreck? Maybe you don’t. Sometimes it takes an explosion to clear everything out of the way. Celebs, athletes, the chick that works at the mall, everybody has their own channel right now, makes you wonder how the handlers will protect their clients from themselves. Oh I plan to keep watching just not sure how funny it’ll continue to be.

The TO Show

I’m a reality TV show junkie. I admit it, I watch them ALL! Well, I watch a lot of them some stuff I just can’t get with (New York goes to work, Daisy of Love, The Cougar :::barf::)

But anyway, last night was the premiere of the TO show. I was excited about the show for a reasons beyond my obvious reality TV addiction. 1. I’ve known Kita & Monique for years, they’re EP’s (Executive Producers where the real $$ are) on the show and I’m extremely proud of their accomplishments!

2. Who doesn’t love to see what Terrell Owens is going to do. For a fringe football fan such as myself, it’s pretty entertaining and he has a nice body (although I’m not attracted to TO in the LEAST bit)

But on to my thoughts. While I appreciate that they’re trying to show a different side of him. And didn’t want to be the “typical” looking for love type show. I hope they highlight some REAL moments. It all feels entirely too scripted and flat with fake story arcs. I did however find it interesting that the NFL hasn’t exactly put its stamp of approval on the show (did you catch the title card at the top of the show). Hopefully that means there are some real nuggets in the pile of fluff

Maybe that’s just me looking at it having interacted with some of the individuals featured but part of what used to draw me into reality shows was, the “reality” everything now seems forced to be over the top and dramatic. Its early in the process so I’m sure the show will settle into some sort of groove but for now, it just feels like more of the same to me.

Dammmmnnnn Bron, You just got Dunked on!

Even Lil Dez couldn’t have lined this question up for Puppet LeBron, “Yo LeBron, LeBron what would you do if a kid DUNKED on you at YOUR camp?”

Bron Gate! LeBron gets dunked on during his skills academy by some COLLEGE KID. And suddenly the tapes have vanished allegedly snatched up by the Evil Nike Empire in order to preserve LeBron’s image.

This is CRAZY that this is headline making news. 1 EVERYBODY has been dunked on. EVERYONE, if you haven’t you aren’t out there handling your biz. It happens!

I actually highly doubt it was Nike that issued the call for the tapes to be snatched up. That sounds more like an idea from LeBron’s marketing company. Most of his endorsements are winding down and while I have no doubt he’ll make even more money and get a ton of endorsements, if you actually look at, his marketing(LRMR) company has yet to broker any significant deals.

Maybe its time to go about the business of actually developing the brand of LeBron (Since he wants to be the first Billionaire global icon athlete) instead of just extending what’s already been there. That Blue Print seems to be wearing thin.

Steve McNair- Perception vs. Reality

You know I’ve gone back and forth with myself a few times since news broke of the death of Steve McNair and the shadowy circumstances that lead to this tragedy. Was I going to write about it. Is it appropriate? Steve McNair was arguably one of the most important Black quarter backs in NFL history. The question begins, do the circumstances surrounding his Untimely death erase everything else that he was?

Let’s be real here, men with money and power especially athletes have extra material affairs. Its as much a part of “The Life” as injuries and pregame tape. And if you look at the statistics on marriage, divorce and infidelity, It’s amazing to me that people are so shocked that he was stepping outside his marriage.

While all the details are still fuzzy, the fact remains that Air McNair was investing his time and money on Ms. Sahel Kazemi. Trips, vehicles, etc and allegedly the promise that he was leaving his wife. People, Men especially need to really understand what they’re doing when they create these fantasy worlds built on lies. You are screwing with a person’s reality! That’s not something to be taken lightly. People create masterpieces or destroy legacies based off of feelings.

Does this tarnish McNair’s contributions to football on and off the field? Not in my eyes. But it is a shame that while his family and close friends have to deal with his lost, they’re also forced to re-exam the man who they believed him to be. Lives forever changed, a legacy that will now always be mentioned with “but”… a tragedy no matter which angle you examine it from and so many questions that might never receive answers.

Perception IS reality a lot of the time. I hope people take this as a lesson learned. Neither Steve nor Sahel deserved this as their end.

Spark it up!

Candace Parker will make her 2009 season debut from the bench today as the Sparks face the Phoenix Mercury. Still no word if Diana Taurasi will play after her DUI the other night (Phoenix Police stay READY, DT, Charles Barkley, Jason Richardson, you athletes be safe out there). The Mercury sits at the top of the standings in the west while the Sparks are scraping the bottom at 5th.

This year was supposed to be THE year for the Sparks. So far the season has been underwhelming. Lisa Leslie sprained her knee, she’s looking to make a return towards the end of the month. But had announced this as her final year in the L. One has to wonder if the Sparks 3-5 record this season & LL’s injury is fueling Candace’s quick comeback.

Tina Thompson came back home to win, LL wants to go out on top and the Sparks have last seasons’ Rookie of the year and MVP CP3 (the female version) is anything less than a title FAILURE? I’d personally love to see another year like back in the early part of the decade where both my LAKERS and SPARKS are King and Queen of the (w)NBA universe. Here’s to the power of positive thinking! Purple & Gold for LIFE!!!

2 Little girls from Compton

Its an all Williams sisters’ Wimbledon. Sometimes I think people forget how great Venus & Serena truly are and what they’ve managed to accomplish. Here’s a little reminder:

- They’re the only 2 women in the Open era to play each other in 4 consecutive Grand Slam finals

- Their current head to head record is tied at 10-10 (this is a tie breaking match!!)

- They’ve met in a total of 7 Grand Slam finals.

They’ve already played against each other twice this year the most recent being in April at the Sony Ericsson Open in the Semi finals. Serena won.

I know there’s a lot going on in the world of sports right now but I think its important to acknowledge the legacy that Venus & Serena have created!

Happy 4th of July!! Be safe out there.

Ron Artest to the Lakers…YES!!! It’s been real TA

So it appears last summer’s dream is finally a reality. Last summer had things played out the way they were supposed to, Ron Artest would’ve opted out of his contract and signed with the Lakers. Ron Artest is a LAKER!!! (or will officially sign next week even though Ron Tweeted he was signing the contract the other night)

Fast forward a year later and the dream is now coming to fruition. Kobe & Artest have been friends for awhile, that wasn’t just playoff hype. This is something that has been talked about for quite sometime. 3 years 18 million and the Dynasty part 2 will begin again! Ron can play the 3 or 4 and his defense is something the Lakers can definitely use as the East reloads. Of course this means that Trevor Ariza won’t be back with the team but he’s lived his own dream, playing for the hometown team (Trevor went to Westchester High here in L.A. and spent a year at UCLA) now it’s time for him to go get his money elsewhere. This is his 3rd contract but his first chance to earn real money.

The League looks to be reloading for next year, anybody who says the NBA’s glory years have passed hasn’t really watched an NBA game in quite sometime.

Day 1 of Free Agency!

It’s not even the 1st full day of free agency and already things are interesting.

Ben Gordon & Charlie Villanueva to The Pistons. Let’s be real, BG does not help the Pistons. It’s almost like they signed AI v2. He can fill it up in buckets but can be a selfish “me first” player. I’m undecided on Charlie V’s impact to the team. When he tweeted last night that the fans of Milwaukee had been great, I knew his destination had already been secured. Will be interesting to see who The Pistons bring in to fix this ship. Orlando & Boston figure to be better this year, Is Detroit in the 3rd or 4th slot in the East based on this move? Doubt it but we’ll see.

QRich back to where it all started, with the Clippers. This might not be a bad look, he & BD can motivate each other to stay in shape, they’ve cleared up the jam upfront shipping ZBo out. But this is the Clippers and somehow my little engine that could team will mess things up. Somehow I doubt this is the last move the Clippers make.

Amar’e Stoud will be a headache wherever he plays at next year.
