Last week the NFL draft took place. Former LSU OT La’el Collins was projected to go in the first round, but was forced to withdraw his name from the draft last minute.
Following the shooting death of Collins ex-girlfriend Brittney Mills, police wanted to question the offensive tackle. Though he was not a suspect, teams were still hesitant to pick him up until they were certain what his involvement was with the case. A polygraph and DNA test have since cleared him of any involvement.
Now Collins has signed a deal to play with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent. Collins deal is equal to that of a second round pick. Should he make the official roster, he is set to make $435,000 in his 1st year, $545,000 the second year and $656,000 in the final year of the deal. He also received a $20,000 signing bonus.
