Are you ready for NFL week 3? Week 2 saw a few upsets thrown into the mix – I prefer not to acknowledge how terrible my picks last week were – this week several teams will be looking to bounce back just like me.
These picks are to win the game, not against the spread for you gamblers.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Dallas Cowboys
Both teams have shocked me this season, both teams are 2-0 but, the Cowboys are down several players. QB Brandon Weeden is going to attempt to “make it do what it do,” sans Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Orlando Scandrick and Randy Gregory – all out due to injury – and the suspended Rolando McClain and Greg Hardy.
Last week I counted both teams out. This week I’m going to role with the roster with the least amount of injuries to key players. #ATLvsDAL
Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans
Colts QB Andrew Luck hasn’t looked like star power this season. His 58.9 passer rating is the lowest in the NFL. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Titans rookie QB Marcus Mariota is first in the league after two weeks with a passer rating of 129.9.
That’s just some numbers for the stats lovers. I’m rolling with the Colts.
Oakland Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns
The Raiders shocked me last weekend. I generally expect them to be bad because it seems to be their tradition at this point. On the Browns side, Johnny Football lost his starting spot to original starting QB Josh McCown, after holding it down last weekend. McCown went down with a concussion week 1, but something tells me he’ll be back in it soon though. I’m going to back the former home team this Sunday though.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Can you picture the Ravens dropping to 0-3 at home? I can’t either. The Bengals have been one of the top teams over the past few weeks, but today is the day I feel reality will hit them.
New England Patriots vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
On any given Sunday, anything can happen on the gridiron. But, come on man, it’s the Jags vs. the Patriots. The Jags can hang their hats on a winning streak of one.
Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints
Saints QB Drew Brees has been ruled out of this match up due to a shoulder injury, and Cam is Superman. Enough said.
New York Jets vs. Philadelphia Eagles
I think the Eagles are in trouble. J-E-T-S
Houston Texans vs. Tampa Bay Bucs
I have concerns about the Texans run game and their QB, but the Bucs are uneven as well. I made the safe choice, and I don’t feel bad about.
Minnesota Vikings vs. San Diego Chargers
Sigh, I want to roll with the Chargers, but this is the second week in a row they’re on the road. They let me down last week.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. St. Louis Rams
You saw the Rams turn back into a pumpkin last week after looking stellar in week 1. I don’t think a fairy Godmother is coming in to help them this week either.
Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49’ers
I picked the Cardinals as my sleeper in the NFC West. QB Carson Palmer has been putting in work. His passer rating in the fourth quarter is 152.1, that’s the number one spot in the L. The Niners have been my team the past few seasons, that’s been sort of painful. I’m not expecting an elixir on Sunday.
Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills
After an embarrassing loss the the Patriots in week 2, expect the Bills to come out charged up Sunday. This should be an AFC East slugfest with Sexy Rex and the Bills coming out on top.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears
Welcome back Kam Chancellor.
SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Detroit Lions vs. Denver Broncos
I think this is a trap game for the Broncos. It’s a game the Broncos should win, but I think they’re going to drop it.
MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Green Bay Packers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
In Case You Missed Thursday Night’s Game:
New York Giants vs. Washington Redskins
Ugly game. Giants won 17-13.
