The Tim Tebow era has finally come to an end for the New York Jets. The writing was on the wall following the Jets second round draft choice of Geno Smith on Friday. That effectivly put six QB’s on the roster and someone had to go.
GM John Idzik informed Tebow of his decision to cut him early Monday morning. The remaining five quarterbacks on the roster include Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, David Garrard, Greg McElroy and Matt Simms.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan released a brief statement.
“We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,” Ryan said. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped.”
