We spend a great deal of time focusing on the negative when it comes to professional sports and their franchises, but it’s equally important to highlight the good things that are born out of them as well.

2012 second round pick Devon Still was recently cut from the Cincinnati Bengals. Despite that fact, the team is standing by him and his family during a crisis.

Devon Still and daughter Leah

On June 2, Still’s 4-year-old daughter, Leah, was diagnosed with pediatric cancer. After cutting him over the weekend, Cincinnati signed the 25-year-old to its practice squad so that he could keep his insurance and continue to draw a salary to assist in his daughters care.

Still had this to say:

I can’t give football 100 percent right now. In the business aspect they want guys solely focused on football. And that’s understandable. We’re here to win this city a Super Bowl and right now I’m just not in position where I can give football 100 percent.

Kudos to the Bengals organization. Wishing Leah a speedy recovery.
