Championship Sunday Jan 21st 300-400
The NFL world was shaken up last week when the Jacksonville Jaguars upset the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a matter of fact, dominos are starting to fall from that astonishing game. The Steelers are allowing their offensive coordinator Todd Haley to walk away. This is quite the surprise. That being said, there were rumors that he butted heads with Ben Roethlisberger and coach Mike Tomlin.
There are two games on the slate this weekend, and they both should be fascinating.
Patriots Versus Jaguars
The Patriots are obviously going to be favorites for this home tilt. The main reason for this optimism is the Patriots perennial excellence. Yet another important reason is the Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles. Quarterback is the most important position on the field, and Bortles is unbelievably mercurial. Some weeks he struggles to move the ball. However, Jacksonville has a turnover-generating defense, a unit which gave the Pittsburgh Steelers problems. Still, this unit gave up 42 points to the Steelers, so they can be scored on. Look for Tom Brady to limit the turnovers and make his eighth Superbowl appearance.
Eagles Versus Vikings
Both of these teams have stout defenses. They also both have journeyman at quarterback- Nick Foles and Case Keenum, respectively. The Eagles have home field advantage, and that’s always a plus in defensive playoff games. One interesting point is that this year’s Superbowl will be played in Minnesota. No team in NFL history has ever had a home Superbowl game, and you know Vikings Nation is eager to be the first. That extra incentive may be the deciding factor- look for the Vikings to win another nail-biter.
