Per police interviews with the Cheryl Shepard, the mother of Jovan Belcher. The linebacker argued with his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, about their daughter’s paternity prior to his shooting her on December 1st.
A KCPD spokesperson also confirmed that the lead detective on the case had not received that information.

The Chiefs had been providing Belcher and Perkins with counseling for relationship and financial issues, per police. Baby Zoey is currently with Belcher’s mom who has temporary custody. A permanent guardian has not been named.
Perkins’ family had Zoey in Texas for Kasandra’s memorial and have indicated they will be involved in raising Baby Zoey. The NFL will be providing medical benefits plus $108,000 annually over the next four years, then, $48,000 in the fifth year and finally, $52,000 each year until she’s 18 — or 23, if she attends college.
Belcher’s beneficiary also will get $600,000 in life insurance, a $100,000 retirement account and $200,000 for each season he played. Belcher was in his fourth season with the Chiefs.
