Playing in the NBA is a dream for millions of kids. But one former NBA player is walking away from the game – at least professionally- after 5 years in the NBA, and signing a four-year, $44 million contract extension.

Milwaukee Bucks center Larry Sanders agreed to a buyout with the team. Sanders was the Bucks 15th draft pick in the 2010. In a video recorded for “The Player’s Tribune,” Larry explains why he’s walking away from basketball.

He revealed that he is suffering from anxiety and mood disorders. He recently received treatment at Rogers Memorial Hospital for those issues. He also delves into his marijuana use, which he says is used to treat his depression. He understands that this isn’t a situation most people would walk away from, but his mental health is the priority.
