NBA Commissioner David Stern announces retirement date

 

After almost 30 years, the globalization of basketball, a few superstars and three lockouts, NBA Commissioner David Stern has announced he will retire February 1st 2014, thirty years to the day that he stepped into his current role. Current Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver will take over the reins.

CBS Sports has put together an incredible timeline filled with highlights from Stern’s illustrious career. Love him or hate, you have to admit that he’s the best Commissioner in professional sports and an absolute marketing visionary.
