Gilbert Arenas has found an NBA home for the rest of the season. Arenas worked out today for the Memphis Grizzlies. The Griz are in need of a back up guard as their two rookies, Jeremy Pargo and Josh Selby, haven’t panned out backing up Mike Conley Jr.
Arenas had the same procedure on his knee during the lockout that Kobe Bryant did. Per the Memphis Commercial appeal, Arenas just has to pass a physical and he’ll join the team on their west coast road trip. He’ll earn the prorated veteran’s minimum which is about $300,000.
The concern with Gilbert isn’t really what he can provide on the court (although last season he wasn’t exactly lighting it up in Orlando. It’s more to do with chemstry issues. I hope the time away has grown Gil up a bit. He seems like a lot of fun honestly but the timing for those hijinks is key!
