Clippers reach deal for Doc Rivers to become head coach

Doc Rivers

Looks as if the Los Angeles Clippers feel Celtics head coach Doc Rivers is the key to their future success. The two teams have reportedly worked out terms that will allow Rivers to take over the head coaching reins for his former team -Doc spent one year with the franchise in the 90’s.

Sources confirmed on Sunday that the Clippers will sign Rivers to a three-year, $21 million contract. They will send a first-round pick as compensation for the Boston Celtics, who have agreed to release the coach from the three years, $21 million he has remaining on his deal with the club.

The proposed trade of Kevin Garnett to the Clippers for DeAndre Jordan is on hold as David Stern has questions… There were reports that Chris Paul was upset at the idea the Clippers let Doc slip away. CP3 officially becomes a free agent on July 1st and the Clips want to ensure that the point guard stays in LA.
