The Mike D’Antoni era officially began in LA on Tuesday night when the Lakers faced off against the Brooklyn Nets who were on a 5-game win streak. Logically speaking, we know D’Antoni had very little impact on this first game but there was some defense played so there’s that.
Metta World Peace came into this season in shape and it’s shown with his on court output. In the last five games World Peace has averaged 16.8 ppg and 5 rebounds. One of the funniest sights at many Laker games are Metta’s reactions after he scores. Kissing fans hands, showing off his biceps in a gun show are just a few of the memorable ones.
Tuesday night was no exception. Metta hit a corner three in the fourth, to cut the Nets lead to two, he ran past the Brooklyn bench and gave coach Avery Johnson a pat on the head.
