Dallas Mavericks suspend Delonte West indefinitely for the 2nd time this preseason

For the second time this NBA preseason, The Dallas Mavericks have suspended guard Delonte West and put the “indefinite” tag on it.

“We have suspended Delonte for conduct detrimental to the team,” President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson said. “The suspension is effective immediately and no other statements will be issued.”

Delonte took to Twitter to voice some of his frustration at the suspension and also to make it clear that he is not “off his meds.”

Following his previous suspension which was lifted two days later, Rick Carlisle shared these thoughts:

“Most players in this league run on gas,’’ Carlisle said earlier this preseason. “Delonte runs on diesel. So you got to listen to him and understand him. He’s a little different. We had a good talk about some things we needed to talk about and it’s all about refocusing and getting back to basketball.

“We need him. He’s one of our better players. And it’s all about communication. So he and I are going to keep talking.”
