The Phoenix Suns have officially been put on notice by Steve Nash. The point guard is in the final year of his contract and has stated that he won’t return to the Suns unless there is significant improvement.
One team he is interested in, The Heat. During his appearance on the Dan Patrick show, Nash said if LeBron made the recruiting call, he’s absolutely interested.
“I would listen,” he said. “He’s phenomenal. I love what they’re doing there. A lot of people don’t like them because they put all that talent there. But they’re professional, they play hard, they play together. Their coaching staff has done a great job, so I have a tremendous amount of respect for them. I would definitely listen.”
The real question, at 38 years old, what team and type of deal would be on the table for Nash? This season he’s averaging 12 ppg and 11 assists. His career average is 14 ppg and 8 assists. But would Steve take a one year deal for a vet minimum to come off the bench? If the Heat don’t win a championship this year, things could get really ugly in Miami. And that’s not something Nash could really fix.
