A new league featuring NBA players is set to launch in September in Las Vegas. The roster consists of at least 70 active players.
Impact Basketball, a training facility frequented by the pros in the summer, has plans to launch it’s own league.
Some of the players already committed to play include; Chauncey Billups, John Wall, Paul Pierce, Al Harrington, Corey Maggette, Kyle Lowry, Paul George, J.J. Hickson, Austin Daye, Jared Dudley, Dahntay Jones, Jermaine O’Neal, Craig Brackins, Marreese Speights, Eric Bledsoe, Matt Barnes and Manny Harris are among the players that have worked out with Impact in Las Vegas and Los Angeles this summer.
Two games will be played each day and the league is expected to last two weeks. There’s also a chance that the games will be streamed online- They probably would like to charge but don’t want a repeat of what happened with the Drew League vs. Goodman League game. There were technical difficulties and the game wasn’t able to be streamed. Refunds are being issued.
Sounds interesting, the NBA usually holds their summer league for rookies and guys trying to get an invite to camp in Vegas in July. This helps out the rookies and allows the Vets to stay sharp. The players aren’t repeating the mistakes from the ’98 lockout.
