The New York Jets have extended QB Mark Sanchez for three more years. The deal comes shortly after free agent Peyton Manning made it clear that the Jets were not on the list for potential suitors of his services.
The Jets have now made a player who is coming off of his worst season as a pro and one in which the team made it obvious that they weren’t happy with his development, the seventh highest paid QB in the league. Sanchez still had two years left on his previous contract.
The extension includes $20.5 million in guarantees for 2012 and 2013 and $40.5 million in “new” money, bringing his total over five years to $58.25 million, according to sources. He can make an additional $10 million through incentives.
Peyton Manning has everyone scrambling so it seems.
