Partial Nets Owner, Jay Z Taking An Active Role In Rebranding The Franchise

Partial New Jersey Nets owner Jay Z might be a little busy “Watching the throne” but that doesn’t mean he’s not paying attention to what’s happening with the Nets. As a matter of fact, since new majority owner, Mikhail Prokhorov took over the team in 2010, Jay’s involvement in several key aspects of the franchise has grown.

Check out a few of the areas that will benefit from Jay’s direct input:

The new arena will have Jay’s handprints all over it, He’s doing some things with the building as far as premium spaces,  working with the architect and design firm. A firm Jay Z helped to co-found has been hired for branding and positioning for the new Barclays Center. The company is headed up by former music industry executive Steve Stoute.

There are also rumors that the arena is close to signing a huge deal with Live Nation (concert deals… yeah Jay Z is in partnership with them but of course, you knew that)

He’s also working with us on the jerseys and how the franchise plans to brand the team once they move to Brooklyn (Jay is from Brooklyn after all, how could he not be deeply involved)

I wonder if his plans include a celebrity row, after all between Jay and his wife Beyonce, Kim Kardashian is now a basketball wife and Maria Sharpova is almost one too
