The NBA relocation committee, in a unanimous recommendation, have denied the Sacramento Kings franchise the ability to move the team to Seattle. This will be the second time a request has been shot down for the Maloofs. The NBA Board of Governors will meet on May 13th to formally vote on the matter however, it’s doubtful that they would go against that recommendation. Former NBA player and current mayor of Sacramento, Kevin Johnson, has been very vocal about keeping the franchise in Sacramento and took to Twitter to celebrate.
That’s what I’m talking about SACRAMENTO!!!!! WE DID IT!!!!!

I’ve never been prouder of this city. I thank the ownership group, city leaders, but most of all the BEST FANS IN THE NBA!!!

I’m very curious to see what the Maloofs next move will be. Legal action by them or the Seattle group that was attempting to purchase the team and move them is an option but I’m sure that wouldn’t be a great start to a relationship with the NBA.
