The Disney+ Marvel series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” isn’t the regular superhero subject matter we’ve become used to. This comedic superhero story has a surprising legal twist. The series also serves as fans’ first introduction to Jennifer Walters and her alter-ego, She-Hulk. Not only are we experiencing Jennifer’s literal growing pains as she adjusts to her new form, but there are also outside obstacles that the average person would never consider.
Episode 5 of She-Hulk deals with some of those unexpected challenges, like clothing for a hulk, dating, and ownership of a superhero’s moniker. On the style front, her assistant and best friend Nikki and Pug (Josh Segarra) handle the fashion. Jennifer enlists another lawyer’s help to regain the legal rights to her name after Titania (Jameela Jamil) trademarks it. Enter Mallory Book (Renee Elise Goldsberry.) who wants Jennifer to understand that this is Mallory’s show, and Jennifer has to fall in line. The rocky start to their relationship naturally leads to comedic moments in this episode.
I talked with Goldsberry and Segarra during the AAFCA Roundtable series about fashion’s role with their characters. Segarra, in particular, shared what putting on Pug’s suits.
I loved dressing in my three-piece suits every day. I always got to put on these nice shoes that felt like they just got shined. It felt so nice. And of course, we get to go into this whole drip broker thing. Pug is a shoe collector, I like to collect.
