“Mr. Malcolm’s List” is a refreshing new period piece comedy that looks at how one man has taken the wrong approach in courtship to find a wife.
The film stars Sope Dirisu as Mr. Malcolm, one of the most eligible bachelors in the land. Included on his list of ten qualities that he is searching for in a perfect match are; “Candid, truthful and guileless,” “amiable and even-tempered,” having musical talent, and being able to talk about politics.
After an underwhelming date with Ms. Julia Thistlewaite (Zawe Ashton), who didn’t make the cut. Julia decides to get revenge on Mr. Malcolm by convincing her childhood friend Selina Dalton (Frieda Pinto) to act as if she checks off every box on Mr. Malcolm’s list and then turn him down, giving him a taste of his own medicine. Of course, things don’t go as planned.
Jill Munroe talked with Dirisu and Ashton about the idea of making lists in life and what happens to those lists when things don’t always go as planned.
