Former NBA star Antoine Walker wants to be a role model [video]
Antoine Walker is still discussing how he burned through the $108 million he earned while playing in the NBA. His most recent appearance was on Ricki Lakes’ talk show, “Riki.” Antoine goes through the usual discussion about how he spent his millions but also drops a hint as to his plans for the future.
I wonder if Antoine is making money from his speaking engagements. He mentions wanting to be a role model for “these guys,” talking about how he plans to earn a living NOW, after the lights have dimmed could be a good start. A big problem for retired athletes is a lack of transition plan. They’ve never put any thought into what they’ll do once they’re done with their sport. And generally speaking, very few are able to shut it down on their own terms.
