Timberwolves’ forward Dante Cunningham was arrested Thursday morning in Wayzata, Minn. on allegations of domestic assault. Cunningham was booked into the Hennepin County Jail around 6 a.m.

Police were called to a home on Medina Road at about 4 a.m. Thursday. The woman involved in the alleged assault did not require medical treatment. Cunningham left the scene shortly after the incident but returned to the home, spoke to police and did not resist arrest.

The Timberwolves released a statement that they are aware of the incident, take it seriously and are still in the process of gathering information.

“We are aware of the matter involving Dante Cunningham and are in the process of gathering more information. Dante will not be traveling with the team to Miami this afternoon,” the Timberwolves said in a statement. “The Minnesota Timberwolves organization takes the matter very seriously and does not condone the type of behavior that is associated with this situation. However, we need to let the legal process run its course, and will have further comment at the appropriate time.”
