In the wake of TNT cameras catching Kobe Bryant using a gay slur last week, both the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns have recorded PSA’s urging people to “think before you speak.”
The Lakers spot features Kobe and teammates, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Shannon Brown and Ron Artest. The Phoenix Suns features Grant Hill and Jared Dudley.
“whether someone is different than you in race, ethnicity, political beliefs, religion … or sexual orientation … Words could be hurtful,”
Like I said, I hope the incident will serve as a teaching moment, I don’t recall another professional sport (well the big 3, NFL, NBA or MLB) reaching out to the gay and lesbian community, this is a start!
