Welcome to the 2011-2012 NBA season. I can hardly keep up with all the news that’s made headlines. Here’s a few links to some of the hottest stories:
- Former Dallas Maverick Tyson Chandler will signs with Knicks. The cap room will come via exercising the Amnesty clause on Chauncey Billups and trading Ronny Turiaf.
- Blazers star Brandon Roy will retire. After battling back from injury and an incredible comeback game during the playoffs last season against the Mavericks. Roy has been in the league since 2006 and has battled through several knee surgeries. Roy has 4 years and $64 Million dollars left on his contract. Insurance will see that he receives all his money but I’d be willing to bet every penny he’d rather be on the court earning it. The Blazers opted not to Amnesty his deal.
- Check out theses 9 names, Brian Butch, Justin Dentmon, Jerome Dyson, Moses Ehambe, Carldell Johnson, Trey Johnson, DaJuan Summers, Lance Thomas and Terrico White. Recognize them? Probably not, these are the 9 free agent signings by the New Orleans Hornets to start training camp. This isn’t the usual October training camp where they have the luxury of time. The Hornets have no team. Why would Chris Paul want to be there?
- Yesterday I reported Warriors guard Charlie Bell showed up for his DUI hearing intoxicated. Later that day, Charlie Released a statement saying the break up of his marriage has taken a toll on him. The Warriors have advised Bell to stay in Michigan. The team could part ways with him shortly as they are also trying to get space to go after Restricted free agent DeAndre Jordan.
CHARLIE BELL STATEMENT
More bad news for the Blazers franchise. Center Greg Oden was set to return to the court and sign a one year deal with the franchise has suffered another setback. Honestly, this is who needs to retire. I mean how many more signs are needed? I applaude the franchise because they have supported him %150 throughout his injuries.
