NBA Free Agency Update: Trevor Ariza, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, Nick Young & More

Paul-Pierce-Nick-Young-Trevor-Ariza

Now that all of that LeBron James and Chris Bosh business is taken care of, the rest of the NBA free agents are signing their deals. With Bosh getting a hefty raise from the Heat, the Rockets were flushed with extra cash after their pursuit of Bosh and Carmelo Anthony failed.

Trevor Ariza is returning to the Houston Rockets. Ariza signed a four-year, $32 million contract. With the opening left in Washington by Ariza’s departure, another LA native (Trevor Ariza is from LA, went to Westchester high school and spent a year at UCLA) will take his place.

Paul Pierce is signing with the Wizards for two-years, $5 million.  Many thought Pierce would head to LA to attempt to reunite with Doc Rivers on the Clippers, but the money probably wasn’t there realistically for that to happen.

Other free agent signings of note:

  • Nick Young will return to the Los Angeles Lakers four-years, $21.5 million
  • Vince Carter is moving on from the Dallas Mavericks, Carter has signed up with the Memphis Grizzlies for 3 years, $12.2 million. Look at VC still getting contracts at 37.
  • Former New Orleans Pelican Anthony Morrow is changing addresses also. The guard has agreed to terms with the Oklahoma City Thunder, 3-years, $10 million
  • Isiah Thomas moves from the Sacramento Kings to the Phoenix Suns in a sign-and-trade worth four years $28 million. Wonder what this means for Eric Bledsoe. I would’ve loved for either one to head over to the Lakers
  • Melo hasn’t officially signed yet but, but we all know he’s heading back to the Knicks for the Max.
  • The Miami Heat and Luol Deng are still trying to work out a deal. The word is the Heat would like to sign Deng to something in the two year range for around $20 million
