NBA fines Amar’e Stoudemire $50K for gay slur used via Twitter

You kind of feel for athletes sometimes. People are allowed to say whatever they want to them and they’re always expected to remain professional and composed. But that still doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to pop off and leave evidence.

In another example of Twitter DM’s gone wrong, Knicks Amar’e Stoudemire has been fined $50,000 by the NBA for responding to a “fan’s” tweet admonishing him for his offseason workout. The exact wording, “using offensive and derogatory language in a Twitter message”

Stoudemire issued an apology to the fan via DM. 3 players- Kobe Bryant, Joakim Noah and now Amar’e = $200,000 worth of fines. Add this word to the no-no list, QUICK.
