Michael Jordan & Scottie Pippen respond to Kobe Bryant comments about Dream Team vs. 2012 Team USA

This whole Team USA 2012 vs. The 92 Dream Team has taken on a life of it’s on. First Sir Charles weighed in with his thoughts on the topic, now two other dream team members add their commentary. Both Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen have jumped into the conversation and are certain that this 2012 team would’ve been no problem for the Dream Team.

Jordan told The Associated Press Thursday that he laughed – “I absolutely laughed” – when hearing Bryant’s comments that the squad training in Las Vegas could take Jordan and company.

Jordan said there’s “no comparison” which team is better.

“For him to compare those two teams is not one of the smarter things he ever could have done,”

Why isn’t it smart? Because you disagree? Jordan’s ego is on full blast with that statement. Kobe was responding to a question he was asked. But again, whose really going to say the other guys would destroy us.

“For him to make that comparison, it’s one of those things where it creates conversation,” Jordan said. “I guess we’ll never know. I’d like to think that we had 11 Hall of Famers on that team and whenever they get 11 Hall of Famers you call and ask me who had the better Dream Team. Remember now, they learned from us. We didn’t learn from them.”

Scottie Pippen weighed in during Thursday night’s telecast of Team USA vs. the Dominican Republic.

“I think we could probably beat this team by 25,” Pippen said while watching Team USA destroy the Dominican Republic in an exhibition game on Thursday. “I’ll go out on a limb and say that.”

“We were well-rounded,” Pippen said. “We had good bigs, we had good small forwards, good guards. We didn’t deal with any injuries, so that team stayed assembled. [The current USA] team is really not what they put together. Even though they have some great talent and they brought in more talented players, I just felt like that team is the best of the best.

“We would have attacked this team. From inside, we would be able to attack them with our bigs. Defensively we would have shut them down because we would get up on them as they’re trying to do to this Dominican team,” Pippen concluded.

And of course, Mamba has a comeback

‘So what, he knows I’m a bad mother[expletive]. I’m not really tripping. The fact is, they have Ewing and Robinson and those big guys, it’s tough. If you’re asking me, ‘Can you beat them one game?’ Hell yeah, we can beat them in one game. You didn’t ask me if we could beat them in a 7-game series. In one game, we can beat them. No question about it.’

I LOVE trash talk as long as it stays on the court! People complain about the current crop of guys being too friendly but discourage trash talking. Nothing wrong with thinking you’re the greatest! Healthy competition is fun.
