Kobe Bryant Day in Los Angeles

8-24 (August 24) was Kobe Bryant day in Los Angeles. The date was chosen to pay tribute to Bryan’s two jersey numbers he wore during his 20 year NBA career with the LA Lakers.

Bryant was on hand with his wife Vanessa and daughters Gianna and Natalia – the couple are expecting their third daughter later this year.

Bryant addressed the crowd filled with fans rocking purple and gold; saying “it’s a “huge blessing and a huge honor” to have 8/24 deemed “Kobe Bryant Day in Los Angeles and gave a heartfelt speech to his friends, family and fans at L.A. City Hall.

“I never ever thought that this day would ever be possible,”

Bryant also asked his wife Vanessa who is pregnant with a baby girl, and his two daughters Gianna and Natalia, telling them it would be their responsibility to tell their soon-to-be-born little sister about how good their dad was and why he has his own day.

“She’s gonna have no idea I was actually okay at playing basketball.”
