Hornets Shelving Center Chris Kaman Until A Trade Can Be Worked Out

The NBA and the New Orleans Hornets need to figure out a plan for the franchise quickly! The botched Lakers deal at the top of the season, the Eric Gordon extension that fell through and now the shelving of another player involved in that trade, Center Chris Kaman. The Hornets are currently shopping him.

“We had a conversation with Chris and expressed that the Hornets are going to go in a different direction. We mutually decided for a number of reasons that we are not going to play Chris as we pursue a trade,” said Hornets general manager Dell Demps in a statement. “Chris has been the ultimate professional during this process and we thank him for the way he has handled the situation.”

Kaman is averaging 9.2 points and 6.6 rebounds in 17 games this season, but has only been playing 22.7 minutes per game.

Realistically, who wants to be dumped into that situation with all the instability. Not that I want to lose a team but the NBA really needs to consider contraction. I don’t see how this situation ends well. As a team it must be frustrating for the players to be in limbo. Everything reek of lame duck status.
