Dwight Howard is the king of back pedaling. So it comes as no surprise to me that he’s now backing away from his comments regarding his former Orlando Magic teammates. During an interview this week, Dwight said that his Magic team was full of players nobody wanted. Following Wednesday night’s comeback win against the Pelicans (Hornets) – yes, I’m practicing saying this now because it’s going to be a struggle – Dwight clarified his remarks blaming “the media” for twisting his words…
Ok, here’s my suggestion to Dwight. Invest in a media trainer. If you have before, find a new one and start again. This wasn’t a print interview, this was a recorded interview with an interviewer that was clearly on Dwight’s side. Perhaps deep in Dwight’s heart this new interesprtation was what he really meant. But if that’s the case, he needs to learn how to express himself in a manner where it’s crystal clear what he means. Can “the media” distort things and blow stuff up? Absolutely. But, in this instance, I don’t think that’s what happened. Take Jameer’s advice and man up a little. It’s not always someone else’s fault you’re misunderstood.
