Pearl Gonzalez Investigated Then Allowed to Fight in UFC 210 Despite Breast Implant Rule

Fighter Pearl Gonzalez was investigated and nearly pulled from UFC 210 card because she has breast implants.

Gonzalez was scheduled to make her UFC debut against Cynthia Calvillo on Saturday night, but now that won’t happen as she was pulled from the fight after successfully weighing in Friday morning.  The NY State Athletic Commission won’t let her fight because her breast implants are an apparent violation of the commission’s NY fight rules, according to TMZ Sports.

The crazy part is, female fighters with fake breasts have fought in NY before, according to MMAFighting.com.  It’s also crazy that they pulled her literally the day before the fight instead of discussing it with her earlier.

Gonzales (6-1) was going to make her UFC debut, while Calvillo (4-0) is coming off a first-round submission win over Amanda Cooper at UFC 209 last month.

UPDATE:

So it turns out, Pearl Gonzalez WILL fight at UFC 210 after the New York State Athletic Commission determined she was “medically cleared” to fight with breast implants.

via ESPN:

The fight had appeared to be in limbo Friday because of her breast implants. The NYSAC’s Medical Standards for Professional Boxers states, “Due to the concern over rupture, boxers who have breast implants are not eligible to box in New York.”

“After careful consideration and review, including a conversation with Pearl Gonzalez’s treating physician, the Commission has determined that Ms. Gonzalez is medically cleared to participate in the UFC 210 event in Buffalo, NY,” NYSAC spokesperson Laz Benitez said in a statement.
