In October 2014 Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to 5 years in jail for the 2013 Valentine’s Day murder of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp. He was charged with culpable homicide.

A parole board is reportedly set to recommend probation for the former Olympian after serving only 10 months. Under South African law, Pistorius must serve at least one-sixth of his sentence before being released. The board is prepared to recommend that he be released on August 21st.
