Manny Pacquiao expects Floyd Mayweather fight date to be announced soon

Still waiting for the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather match?  Las month, Mayweather indicated that it was Pac’s promoter Bob Arum that was the stumbling block to the fight being scheduled.  But Pac recently spoke out indicating that the deal is done, the only thing its waiting for is Money May’s signature.

Manny Pacquiao is confident his long-awaited mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr will be announced soon.  And he told the Manilla Standard: ‘We will make an announcement before the end if the month. I think it will happen.’

The fight, which would be worth at least $300 million, is expected to be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather wants to fight on May 2, the Saturday closest to the Cinco de Mayo holiday, as has been his tradition in recent years.

But that date has also been earmarked for Miguel Cotto’s proposed clash with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez which would be one of the biggest fights in the history of the Puerto Rico-Mexico rivalry.

As for the money, a 60/40 purse split that would favor Mayweather. Mayweather is expected to earn $120 million.

We know Pac has some money issues and needs this fight to handle his debt. As for Floyd… he’s “money” but, how can you turn down $120 million for one night?
