It’s about that time for members of the 2010 NBA draft class to get that dough! Sacramento Kings will begin negotiations on a contract extension for DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins. Cousins is eligible for a five-year, $80 million extension that would kick in for the 2014-15 season.

The Kings will be meeting with Cousins’ agent, Dan Fegan, soon to discuss salary and contract length. Cousins is coming off of a successful USA basketball camp in Las Vegas that also included players like Kyrie Irving,  Cousins former UK teammate, John Wall, Kenneth Faried and Anthony Davis. Boogie received a bad rap the last couple of seasons with maturity questions peppering some great on-court performances. But all of that seems to be issues of the past. Cousins has also been working with Legendary Georgetown coach John Thompson.

“I love Cousins,” Thompson said. “Cousins has got to be very careful that he doesn’t let his attitude interfere with his ability…”

“And everybody is not going to confront him that coaches to get him to do the things he needs to do. But I think he’s getting better.”
