All-Star Saturday night has been broken out into East vs. West with Dwyane Wade as the East captain and Chris Paul commandeering the West. The night begins with The Shooting Stars challenge. This event places one current NBA star with a retired NBA legend and a WNBA players. Previously the format was focused on a city i.e. 1 current Laker, 1 Laker legend and 1 member of the Sparks. But that concept has proved a bit harder to maintain.
There will be four teams of three, two representing the West and two the East.
The West will be represented by two former teammates; James Harden of the Houston Rockets and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder participating. Joining Westbrook and Harden for the West are WNBA stars Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx and the Seattle Storm’s Tina Thompson (the WNBA all-time leading scorer); plus two NBA legends Sam Cassell and Robert Horry.
For the East, Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat and Brook Lopez of the Brooklyn Nets. They will be joined by WNBA stars Swin Cash of the Chicago Sky, and Tamika Catchings (the WNBA Finals MVP from Indiana), plus NBA legends Muggsy Bogues, and Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins,
