Miami Marlins‘ second baseman Dee Gordon was suspended 81 games early Friday morning for testing positive for PEDs, and he’s released a statement about the incident.
I don’t know if I believe that he didn’t know what he was taking. It’s only been over the past few years that Dee has been a featured name in the MLB. In 2011 as Gordon was trying to make it up to the big leagues, he weighed 144 by 2014 he was at 174. That doesn’t mean it didn’t happen naturally, it’s just an interesting coincidence that matches his growth.
Gordon wasn’t the only player busted for PED use this season. Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Chris Colabello was suspended last week and didn’t have an explanation either. Gordon and Colabello tested positive for two different substances – Gordon tested positive for exogenous testosterone and clostebol, while Colabello tested positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone.
In January Gordon signed a 5-year-$50 million extension.
