Sunday night, a video surfaced of the Sigma Alpha Epilson (SAE) fraternity chapter at the University of Oklahoma singing a racist chant. The video shows a group of white students on a bus singing “There will never be a ni**** in SAE. You can hang him from a tree, but he can never sign with me.”
The national chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon shut down the Oklahoma chapter Sunday night, suspending all of the members, and threatened to remove those responsible from the fraternity for life.

Many students and activists spoken up, including some of the OU Sooners football team. The OU Sooners football players along with their head coach Bob Stoops, joined the OU South Oval demonstration this morning. They also were among the many students who spoke out last night as news crews descended on the campus. OU football player Erik Striker said “There’s an institutional breakdown when it comes to minority relations here at the University. Plus there’s been some issues as athletes that we have that we feel have not been addressed.”
