NBA to examine it’s domestic violence policies following NFL-Ray Rice fallout

Adam-Silver

The NBA is taking a look at it’s current policies in the wake of the NFL’s Ray Rice scandal. The NBA currently has nothing specific in place for domestic violence. Instead their CBA calls for all violent felony convictions to receive an automatic 10-game suspension.

“When a player is convicted of (including a plea of guilty, no contest, or nolo contendere) a violent felony, he shall immediately be suspended by the NBA for a minimum of ten games,” the league’s collective bargaining agreement

I think that all violent offenses should be treated the same but I do think that advance prep and consistency with the process – is an arrest enough for suspension, or is it the actual conviction, etc.- is key.
