Serena Williams is from COMPTON. So while it may not have been “proper” after Serena beat Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1 for a Gold medal and achieving a Golden Slam, Serena “crip walked” in victory!!
Williams becomes only the second woman to complete a career Golden Slam- a singles Career Grand Slam (winning the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open) plus the Olympic gold medal in singles. This is her first singles Gold.
Listen, after all the health problems Serena has been through the past year or so. I am ecstatic at the success she’s having! While some may say it was in poor taste, I say if it can be used in advertising to slang sneakers and laundry detergent, it’s ok to use in a moment of joy. At one point people considered Venus and Serena’s braids with beads a NO too. Dubs up!!
