Greg Oden, the former #1 pick of the Portland Trailblazers in the 2007 draft, underwent his fifth knee surgery on Monday. Initially the procedure was just supposed to clean up loose debris but once inside, it was discovered that a second microfracture surgery on his left knee was needed. And now, his 2011-2012 season is officially over.
Prior to undergoing the arthroscopic procedure on his right knee earlier this month, Oden had microfracture surgery on that knee in Sept. 2007.
Oden signe a one year deal with the Blazers who have stood by the Center through all of this. He’s only played 82 games in the 5 years since he’s been drafted over Kevin Durant. It’s time for Oden to retire, we’ve known since his college days his knees were essentially paper mache but the Trailblazers organization took a chance on him anyway.
Oden is only 24 and has made some nice money during his career. I hope he’s thought of what the next phase of his life will be.
