Mets’ Wilmer Flores Cried During Game Because He Thought He Got Traded

Wilmer-Flores-Crying

In the hit film “A League of Their Own,” Tom Hanks famously said there was “no crying in baseball,” apparently there is. Especially when you’re in a game and hear news that you may have just been traded.

New York Mets shortstop Wilmer Flores started tearing up on the diamond after reports surfaced that he had been traded for Brewers All-Star center fielder Carlos Gomez.

Right around the seventh inning is when the news began to hit social media and make its way into the dugout. Flores was left in the game and started to breakdown while in the outfield.

The 23-year-old has been apart of the Mets organization since he was 16. He soon learned that the report was premature.

“During the game I heard about I was getting traded,” Flores told the media after the game. “I got emotional and when I came in they told me I was not traded.”
