Nuggets Chris Andersen & Clippers Ryan Gomes latest Amnesty Cuts

More victims of the amnesty clause were announced today. In Denver, the Nuggets said goodbye to Chris “Birdman” Andersen. Andersen averaged 5.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 32 games with the Nuggets last season. There were 2-years-$9million left on his contract.

Birdman was grounded during the playoffs in May when his home searched  in connection with an investigation by the Douglas County sheriff’s office’s Crimes Against Children division. Andersen’s lawyer has maintained that Birdman was the victim of an extortion plot by a jilted female fan.

In other amnesty news, the Clippers have waived  forward Ryan Gomes. 15 teams used the amnesty clause with the window to do so closing at midnight on July 17th. Earlier Tuesday, the Clippers announced the signing of Grant Hill scooping up an alleged Laker free agent target. Hill turns 40 later this year.
