The LEXUS Uptown Honors Hollywood pre-Oscar gala took place on Wednesday, February 5 at NeueHouse in Hollywood. This year’s honorees were a diverse group of Black women making major moves in the worlds of film and television.
Writer, producer and creator of Starz hit show ‘Power,’ Courtney A. Kemp, Executive Vice President of Film Production at Warner Bros. Pictures Niija Kuykendall, writer, performer, producer and showrunner Robin Thede (HBO’s ‘A Black Lady Sketch Show’) and actress/producer Marsai Martin (‘Blackish’)
The red carpet featured celebrities that included the stars of ‘Power’ Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora and Larenz Tate, Lahmard Tate (CW’s ‘All American’) writer/comedian Chris Spencer, media personality Tai Beauchamp, Actress Gabrielle Dennis, Actress Melinda Williams, Comedian/actor Affion Crockett, Power Confidential host Terrence J, cannabis entrepreneur Al Harrington and “A Fall From Grace” star Bresha Webb.
In honor of Black History month and Black excellence, EUR’s Jill Munroe talked with the stars on the red carpet about continuing to honor Black women in Hollywood, the future of ‘Power’ and the importance of African-Americans being represented in the cannabis space.
