Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch arrested on DUI in Oakland

Add Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch to the running tally of NFL players arrested this summer. The charge, DUI.

Lynch was arrested after a traffic stop on Interstate 880 in Oakland, according to CHP spokesman Hector Baiza. Lynch was taken to Santa Rita Jail, where he was cited and released.

The five-year NFL veteran was cooperative and submitted to a blood test once he was in custody, Baiza said. Lynch’s blood-alcohol level was over the .08 limit, Baiza added, though he declined to specify the exact measurement.

Lynch’s drivers license was revoked in 2008 after pleading guilty to “failing to exercise due care toward a pedestrian.” Lynch said he was unaware that he had struck a woman outside a Buffalo, NY, bar at 3:30 a.m.

Since he’s a repeat offender you know NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will be laying the smackdown via fines and suspension. There have been approximately 25 arrests of NFL players this offseason and of that number, 10 were DUI’s. The league has recently changed it’s free call-a-cab program available to players however, it’s said that few players utilized the service as they felt it was set up to spy on their activities as opposed to help.
