Pam Oliver “I do my own hair, get over it”

Pam Oliver has taken a beating on Twitter and Instagram almost every weekend during the NFL season. The “jokes” are usually dealing with the condition of her hair. Pam spoke with Philly.com about the public’s fascination with her hair and what she’s focused on while on the sideline.

Pam doesn’t have a glam squad, she does her own hair and make up. She said she’s much more concerned with trying to speak with players pregame or doing last minute research.

“You’re out there, trying a to catch players, get some last-minute stuff, get your reports turned around quickly, and I may or may not have time to put on lip gloss or powder my face,” Oliver explained, adding that she doesn’t have hair stylists and makeup artists with her on game day. “I know TV is a visual medium, but there are times when you kind of hope that people are listening to what you’re saying as opposed to judging you if a strand of hair is not in place or if you have only got one eye lined or something.

I respect Pam and the job she does. Her dedication to her craft is inspiring. However, she said it herself, TV is a visual medium. People make judgements as to whether they think you’re credible, interesting etc., based on your look. A little polish wouldn’t hurt. And at this point in the game, I think she can ask that a game day hair stylist be added to her contract without it coming off as “diva antics.”

The veteran sideline reporter has been with FoxSports for 19 years. Her contract is up after the Super Bowl but she and FoxSports are already in talks for a new one.
