NHL Player, Derek Boogaard, Dead At 28

New York Rangers forward Derek Boogaard has passed away at 28.  His brothers discovered his body in his Minneapolis apartment on Friday evening.

Some believe the cause of death may be linked to a concussion Boogaard suffered in a fight on Dec. 9th with Matt Carkner of the Ottawa Senators.  He was limited to 22 games in his first season with the New York Rangers.

I’ve never understood why hockey allows it’s players to fight. Prayers go out to Derek’s friends and family.
