The New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher has another challenge in an already difficult first season of coaching. According to court documents filed in L.A., Fisher has filed for divorce from his 38-year-old wife Candice, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Candice and Derek met when he was playing for the Lakers. The two were married for 10 years, celebrating their anniversary in February. They have a pair of seven-year-old twins, Drew and Tatum. Candice also has a son from her previous relationship with retired NFL running back Marshall Faulk.
The split appears amicable, with Fisher offering to split the legal costs. He’s seeking joint custody of the twins.
“This is a difficult time for me personally,” he said in a statement. “For the sake of our children, I ask that everyone respects our privacy during this process.”
Ironically enough, Derek posted the sweetest message to Candice last month on their anniversary.
