Kevin Durant donates $1 million to RedCross tornado disaster relief

Moore, Oklahoma was hit by a devastating tornado on Monday, May 20th. While the Thunder were bounced out of the playoffs early, Kevin Durant stepped up to assist his NBA home state in its time of need, by quietly donating $1 million to the Red Cross.

The total number of dead is not yet certain, but according to CBSNews.com, 24 people, including many children, lost their lives. An estimated 300 homes have been destroyed and early valuations have the damage totaling well into the billions of dollars.

The NBA and the players’ union also are coming together to add another $1 million donation for relief efforts in the Oklahoma City area. Plus, the Thunder’s main sponsor, Chesapeake Energy has also pledged $1 million in support.
