Roc Nation sponsored the RN Summer Classic charity basketball game on Thursday in Brooklyn at Barclays Center. The two team captains were Roc Nation athletes, Yankees CC Sabathia, and Seattle Mariners Robinson Canoe. The event raised over $1 million.
Of course, some of your favorite Roc Nation affiliates were in the building, including Kevin Durant, Skylar Diggins, and Rihanna. One of the buzz moments of the evening had nothing to do with sports or charity. It was when Chris Brown went over to the sideline to high-five a fan who was sitting near Ri.
All this fun and celebrity was for a great cause. Both team coaches selected their charity of choice. CC Sabathia played for the PitCCh In Foundation and Robinson Cano for the RC22 Foundation.
The PitCCh In Foundation, founded by Amber and CC Sabathia, serves to enrich the lives of inner-city youth and raise self-esteem through educational and athletic activities. Robinson Cano’s RC22 Foundation aims to positively impact the lives of underserved children and communities locally and globally by improving outcomes in youth development and community healthcare.
Team Cano were the victors.
