Chiefs player kills girlfriend and then self at Arrowhead practice facility

Details are still coming in but the Kansas City Chiefs have confirmed that an incident took place this morning at the facility involving a player committing suicide after he shot and killed his girlfriend at their home.

Per NBC Sports, 25-year old Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins Saturday morning at approximately 7:50 AM CST. Belcher then drove to the team’s Arrowhead practice facility where he was met in the parking lot by GM Scott Pioli and Coach Romeo Crennel. Belcher allegedly thanked them before shooting himself.

Belcher and Perkins were parents to an infant daughter named Zoey Michelle who was born in September. Such a tragic story so close to the holidays.

Sending love and light to both families and the Chiefs organization.
